Tax Justice Sunday
On Sunday 8th June, churches all around the country marked Tax Justice Sunday, praying, reflecting and talking about tax justice and how it relates to our faith.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who downloaded the resource pack and used it in their church, group or personally. It’s really exciting to see people who care about tax justice sharing that passion and challenge with others in their churches and communities.
Tax Justice Sunday falls in Fair Tax Week, which celebrates the positive impacts of fair tax in our society. As well as Tax Justice Sunday, we marked Fair Tax Week in different ways:
Introduction to Tax Justice Webinar
We hosted a fantastic webinar introducing tax justice in a biblical context, a political context and a campaigning context. We heard from our friends at Tax Justice UK, Christians on the Left, and from Sue and David who are members of our own movement.

Calling for a wealth tax outside parliament
On Wednesday 11 June, we joined with our allies and some MPs to stand outside Parliament to call for greater taxation on wealth.

Comprehensive Spending Review
On Wednesday 11 June, the Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced her spending plans, including setting each government department’s budgets for the next three years.
We released a reaction in response to the announcements in the Comprehensive Spending Review, which you can read here.
“While increased NHS funding, investment in housing and infrastructure are welcome, today’s confirmed cuts will harm some of the poorest people in society, amidst unacceptably high levels of inequality. A small minority of the super-rich are not paying their fair share while many people struggle to afford even a basic quality of life. As Christians we believe that every person – rich or poor – is made in the image of God and has a fundamental dignity. This is why we need a wealth tax, to redress the balance and help build the kind of society where everyone can thrive.”

Good Money Sunday 2025
If you enjoyed thinking about the links between money and faith, or talking about this in your church or groups, why not sign up to receive updates and resources for Good Money Sunday (October 12)?
We,having previously done Good Money Sunday in October,only used prayers for tax justice Sunday and a poster to highlight the week ,as we also had Pentecost that day and Sunday School Anniversary with the kids performing. However I did put an article in our magazine and talk about being aware of greening our pensions.
Thankyou. This will not be a one off but will feed into our Eco church concerns of good stewardship.
