Be still, and know that I am God… (Psalm 46)
Sometimes we need to be still before we act. Sometimes a time of silence and prayer can help shine a light on where and how we need to act.
Our new Money Makes Change online guided prayer resource takes you through a series of reflections to connect your faith and your finances for a fairer world.
Christians, and many others, recognise that ‘our’ resources are primarily God’s resources of which we are stewards. We are called to use these resources wisely, and to share them with others, seeking to serve our neighbours and to see all Creation flourish.
There may be ways in which our financial choices – who we bank with, where we invest or how we spend money – are harming the world around us. Therefore, it makes sense to take time to regularly and prayerfully review the decisions we make around money.
This prayer resource is inspired by the five-step Daily Examen from the Ignatian tradition as developed by St Ignatius. The Examen is a prayer discipline involving reflection on the events in our lives, to detect God’s presence and discern God’s direction for us.
We hope this resource will be useful as an occasional prayer practice for individuals and groups engaging with the Money Makes Change programme. It can be used on its own or could accompany our interactive workshop resource.
You can follow the guided prayer via video here and you can find the accompanying notes here.
Guiding you through the reflections is Colin Darling, our West Midlands Development Manager. If you’d like to read more about the Examen tradition, please visit https://www.ignatianspirituality.com/ignatian-prayer/the-examen/
