Understand your pension
Our pensions are powerful. When they are invested responsibly they can change the world for the better. Get started by reading this short article about ethical pensions.
If you haven’t chosen an ethical fund your pension might be invested in sectors that cause harm like tobacco, fossil fuels and arms companies.
Find out how your pension is invested. Take a look at your fund brochure or explore your pension provider’s website. If your provider offers an ‘ethical’ fund, find out what criteria is used. What is excluded or included?
ShareAction has some great resources to help you understand your pension. Don’t be afraid to engage with your pension. Contact your pension provider about the issues you are concerned about.
Take action for better pensions
Our pensions system is fuelling the climate crisis by investing billions in fossil fuels. But this money could instead be funding our transition to a greener, fairer future.
The UK Government is carrying out the biggest review of the pensions system in a generation. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to push them to change our pensions for the better.
