Within the JustMoney Movement we want to create opportunities for Christians and churches to reflect theologically on economic issues: how we organise our common life, and especially how we can use and share resources and wealth in ways that value people and the planet.
On September 30 2024, together with support from St Paul’s Cathedral and USPG, we organised a panel event of theologians and thinkers to discuss some of these challenges. Challenging our Extractive Economy: Money, Race and Climate critiqued our dominant economic model and offered an alternative perspective from Christian theology. Our speakers were:
- Revd Canon Dr Peniel Rajkumar, theologian and Director of Mission, USPG
- Anupama Ranawana, theologian and political economist at the Queen’s Foundation and research advisor at Christian Aid
- Jeremy Williams, activist and author including of Climate Change is Racist and The Economics of Arrival
- Richard Reddie, Director of Justice and Inclusion at Churches Together in Britain and Ireland

We want this to be the start of a conversation, where the Church is equipped to talk about faith and finance. There are two ways you can get involved:
- Download the companion discussion guide. We have written a study guide for anyone to use along with the video, whether as an individual, a small group study guide, or in churches and other larger settings. The guide contains a 4/5 session or half day longer study guide, and an abridged 1 session guide if you have less time.
- Invite us to run a training event in your setting. We have put together an offering to run a similar event in theological colleges, educational institutes or churches. We can play the video or organise a panel including your own academics or pastors, as well as facilitating follow-up discussion. We welcome invitations to co-design an appropriate event for your context, whether an open evening event, a day’s training with your students, or something else suitable for you.
