Amazon – the world’s largest online retailer – is a “prime” example of these problems.
Amazon doesn’t pay its taxes fairly or transparently, with their tax avoidance estimated to cost the UK hundreds of millions (at least) every year. Tax can, and should, be a tool for paying for the services we need to flourish as a society and to tackle inequality.
This Fair Tax Week, we’re inviting you to take a deeper dive into our campaign to Challenge Amazon: Break the Habit, Fix the Rules. Come and find out more, ask your questions, and discover how you can encourage your church and wider community to get involved.

- Paul Monaghan, from Fair Tax Foundation: Paul will unpack why Amazon has faced criticism for its tax record and why more transparency is needed.
- Maranda St John Nicolle, JustMoney Movement supporter: Maranda will share her own experiences of alternative ways of shopping.
- Simon Thompson, JustMoney Movement’s Campaigns Consultant: Simon will explain how we can use the upcoming UN Tax Convention as an opportunity to take action and talk to our MPs about fixing the rules around tax justice.
- Rosie Venner, JustMoney Movement’s Director of Movement Building: Rosie will talk about breaking the habit of using Amazon, and how we can see this as a positive choice to support more ethical, local and independent businesses.
